On May, 12th medical community celebrates International Nurses’ Day, and 2020 has been declared the Year of Nursing by WHO. The day was chosen not by chance – it is the date of birth of Florence Nightingale, who organized the first service of the Sisters of Charity during the Crimean War.
International Nurses’ Day in Ukraine has been celebrated since 1997 at the initiative of the Ministry of Health and the Association of Nurses of Ukraine.
Currently, about 300,000 nurses work in medical and preventive institutions of Ukraine. At present, the work of nurses is highly respected – they, together with doctors, fight COVID-19, risking their health and lives on a daily basis.
Congratulations to the nurses on their professional holiday! May the good you give to people return a hundredfold, and the reward will be the boundless gratitude of the patients you have helped.
