Ophthalmologist Day

Every year, on November 11, many countries around the world celebrate Ophthalmologist’s Day. This is a professional holiday for physicians who treat various eye diseases. Thanks to ophthalmologists, we have the opportunity to see and perceive the world around us in all its unique shades and colors, because it is known that up to 90% of information a person receives through sight.

Ophthalmologists are faced daily with pathologies of the visual organ of varying severity. Some eye diseases can be completely asymptomatic and therefore the task of an ophthalmologist is very responsible – to detect these diseases as early as possible and save vision. Glaucoma remains one of the most common causes of vision loss in the world. This is a dangerous eye disease, which is manifested by periodic or constant increase in intraocular pressure, followed by damage to the optic nerve, which leads to irreversible loss of vision.
