Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine, is renowned for its safety and vibrant student life. Known as the student capital, it hosts over 30 higher education institutions and more than 20,000 international students, making it a land of endless opportunities for students of all specializations.
Kharkiv boasts one of the most progressive economies in Ukraine, ensuring a high standard of living for both residents and visitors. Located in the northeastern part of Ukraine, it serves as a major economic, educational, and cultural center. Officially recognized as one of the most comfortable cities to live in, Kharkiv is the administrative center of the historical and geographical region known as ''Slobozhanshchyna''. Area: Over 300 sq. km. Population: 1.45 million. Terrain: A hilly plain with valleys and ravines. Climate: Moderately continental with an average annual temperature of +6.9°C, January being the coldest month (-6.1°C) and July the warmest (+20.5°C).

Infrastructure

A distinctive feature of Kharkiv is its spacious squares, including Freedom Square, the largest in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe. It regularly hosts concerts, flash mobs, festivals, and sports events. During winter, it features a Christmas tree, a fairy-tale town, and an open-air ice rink. In 2008, the legendary band Queen performed live here to a record-breaking audience of over 300,000 people.

The city is well-connected with a network of trolleybuses, trams, minibuses, comfortable buses, and three metro lines. An electronic ticketing system is implemented for convenience. Travel by public transport from even the most remote areas to the city center, railway station, bus station, or airport takes no more than 40 minutes.

Intercity and International Connections

Railways: Trains from Kharkiv can reach any point in the country overnight.
Kharkiv Airport: The largest in Eastern Ukraine, handling about 1 million passengers annually. Airlines such as UIA, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, LOT, Belavia, AZUR air Ukraine, Bravo Airways, Ellinair, UmAir, Wizz Air, and Yanair operate here. The modern, compact airport hub, offering affordable services, electric vehicle charging stations, and long-term parking, was listed among the best European airports by the ACI EUROPE in 2016.
