World Autism Awareness Day

April 2 is the annual World Awareness Day on Autism, established by the UN General Assembly in 2007. Autism is a form of psychological alienation of a person in which thoughts, feelings and desires are subordinated to the inner worldview. Signs of autism can be identified by the age of three. Because the sooner autism is detected in a child, the more likely they are to adapt it to a fulfilling life through therapeutic therapy.

The purpose of this day is to spread information about autism and to build tolerance for people living with such a feature, as the number of children with autism is increasing. Currently, there are more than 5,000 reported cases of autism in Ukraine. As part of this day, an international action “Light It Up Blue” is held
when buildings are illuminated by blue light to support people with autism.
